I collaborated with several designers and photographers to produce this ground-breaking series on Southern African military units. In the 2003 book, I was involved in design research, page layout, map illustration, photographic art direction, image retouching and print production project management. Much of my work in the earlier book was reproduced in the 2009 iteration.
Each book showcases over 1000 previously unpublished photographs, documents, badges, medals and militaria from SAS members' personal collections. Stories were researched to produce historically accurate maps which include relevant landmarks no longer seen on contemporary maps. I worked with several photographers art directing the recording and retouching of artifacts for reproduction.
